Just enter your food, and it gives you a selection of wines to go with it. Pretty smart engine too, I've been getting creative with it.
They even have a mobile phone option!

Oh, I'm doomed. Ranger Joe's has a web site. Back In The DayTM Ranger Joe's (just outside Fort Benning's gates) was the place you went to buy a complete set of your field equipment. That way, you could store the stuff the Army had issued you in perfect condition for inspections and pre-PCS or ETS turn-in.
Need this hoodie. Kiri says she prefers the zip-up version. I prefer this one if only because it comes in OD.
Tooth update. Swelling is gone, only mild soreness. This makes me very happy. Not just for the obvious reason, but if I actually heal quickly from the remaining extractions (which shouldn't be anywhere nearly as difficult as these were) it bodes well for my dentures fitting correctly with a minimal need for relining.

A California judge has attempted to prevent the public from accessing the whistle-blower document website Wikileaks, by ordering its records removed from DNS servers. You can read more about it here.

How bored am I?
Feb. 10th, 2008 05:40 pmI'm watching Office Space. After Michael looks up "money laundering" in the dictionary I Googled it.
A bit of a disagreement this morning.
Feb. 10th, 2008 09:24 amiTunes and I are having an argument.
iTunes: "Good morning! 'Top Rated' folder, eh? Have Thick As A Brick - Part 2!"
Me: "Why is that even in there? No, give me some metal."
iTunes: "Dude, it's Sunday morning.. you like A Boat Like Gideon Brown, let's listen to that!"
Me: "Is the boat going to blow up and burn to a driving bass line? If not, I'll pass. Metal, please."
iTunes: "Did you say mellow? Got just the thing! New York State of Mind coming right up!"
Me: "No, you collection of rebellious binary bits! Am I going to have to switch over the the Metal Folder and risk hearing the 2-star death metal?"
iTunes: "I just thought you'd want some pleasing music for your morning."
Me: "No, I want a pulse. You've forced my hand.."
iTunes: "Wait! Give my Shuffle feature a chance!"
Me: "Too late."
Computer screen: Pause, Playlist: Heavy Metal, Play
iTunes: "Fine. Be that way. I'll be over here in virtual memory sulking."

I can haz a computer.
Jan. 19th, 2008 04:12 pmSpecifically, an Eee PC 4GB 701. Mine is black, natch.
This is the first computer that is mine as opposed to one I've shared with someone. Not a power machine, true, but it does what I need it to do: web and mail, what little office stuff I do, and play Nethack. I can even plug in my iShuffle and listen to my music.
After watching me stroke the computer in a disturbing manner in the car, we decided on the new little box's name. At first it was going to be MiniPC (I do a dead-on MiniMe "eeeee") but then we thought of a better one. The box is Mr. Bigglesworth.

AOL Pulls Plug on Netscape Web Browser
Ah, my first browser, all those years ago...
Netscape Navigator, the world's first commercial Web browser and the launch pad of the Internet boom, will be pulled off life support Feb. 1 after a 13-year run.
Its current caretakers, Time Warner Inc.'s AOL, decided to kill further development and technical support to focus on growing the company as an advertising business. Netscape's usage dwindled with Microsoft Corp.'s entry into the browser business, and Netscape all but faded away following the birth of its open-source cousin, Firefox.
"While internal groups within AOL have invested a great deal of time and energy in attempting to revive Netscape Navigator, these efforts have not been successful in gaining market share from Microsoft's Internet Explorer," Netscape Director Tom Drapeau wrote in a blog entry Friday.
In recent years, Netscape has been little more than a repackaged version of the more popular Firefox, which commands about 10 percent of the Web browser market, with almost all of the rest going to Internet Explorer.
People will still be able to download and use the Netscape browser indefinitely, but AOL will stop releasing security and other updates on Feb. 1. Drapeau recommended that the small pool of Netscape users download Firefox instead.
