When Kirsten got laid off, we lost our health benefits. Realistically, there was no way for us to make the COBRA payments. This meant that I ran out of Trileptal the other day (we had thought we had more time to get the refill.. oops.)
Needless to say, this stressed me out. Never mind the horrible thought of seizing again, just stopping anti-convulsants cold is a really bad thing to do. So Kiri was doing some benefit hunting, and found a way to get me a free month's supply. Which I just picked up.
Yay Kiri! Yay Drugs!
So now I need to find out if I'm going to get benefits from work - and soon.
These last few weeks has turned me into something of a single issue voter, as you might imagine. I will vote for the candidate committed to establishing national health care with reasonable prescription medication prices. There has to be a stronger safety net than the county ER. It is insane that in this nation, we have men, women and children who cannot get even the most basic preventive health care because of cost.
