I've actually done the egg frying thing, on the sidewalk in front of my parent's house in Phoenix. On aluminum foil. I did a miserable job of flipping the eggs and it was very messy, but they did cook.
No kidding. I'm not a fan of the blistering heat but I'm even less a fan of hearing my grandmother bitch about said heat and yet wait for her to turn on the AC after we've sat there and cooked in our own juices for a few hours. Her logic? "We can't afford to run the AC that long." Okay, fine. But don't bitch about it. We can fix the problem, we just have to kick in a little more money. If you don't want to, that's fine too, but you must keep your mouth shut. Make, bed, sleep.
