The New York Tankees have acquired A-Rod from the Rangers, another example of Steinbrenner's negative effect on baseball.

But that's not the shocker.

A-Rod will be wearing Babe Ruth's old number. Why wasn't that number retired decades ago? I mean, we are talking about Herman "Babe" Ruth! Number #2 on the all-time homerun list, one of the greatest players of all time. And his number has been retired?

What are the Yankees thinking?

Where did you see this? And are you aware that Rodriguez's number with the Rangers is Ruth's old Yankees number? I don't think Steinbrenner is that stupid.

It was in The Gate, but now the Yankees are backing off, saying A-Rod will probably wear 33.
