Since we know live in the bloody hot Santa Clara Valley, I bought a pair of shorts yesterday. I'm a little perturbed here, so those of you with a sense of style, help me out.

Being me, I wanted denim, and all of the men's shorts hung to just above the knee. To me, shorts come up to mid-thigh. Am I missing some sort of trend here? Is this the way things are supposed to look? Or am I a geek yet again?

What I forgot to get was running shorts so I can, well, walk. And tan. Pasty-white legs not good.

Hee! My boy friend won't buy shorts that are any shorter than the middle of his knee cap. It's an odd phenomenon. Like half-pants or something.

Oh honey, you should never attempt these things w/o the assitance of a professional.

I have seen the rare denim shorts that were factory made to do be mid thigh and generally they don't look so good. Yes, for some time now, denim shorts (and lots of others too) are made to ride just above the knee. Shorter shorts are generally reserved now for running shorts, swim suits, exercise and bike pants and the every fabulous cut-offs. (Which make the best denim shorts IMHO) So what you found is typical, but I bet you can hunt around and find some non-denim shorts at the length you want fairly easily, but a search for shorts that lenth in denim will be difficult at best and it wouldn't hurt to try GoodWill and Sally's for a pair.

*falls out of chair laughing* I can hear the voice... it's that guy on "What Not To Wear" the one who looks like a 80's heavy metal fan...but sound like an absolute Queen. *giggle*

I highly reccomend thrift store jeans made into cut offs. They aren't that hard to hem, either, if you don't want the raggy bits on the bottom.

Yes, your majesty.

They don't fit that badly, it was just the length that confused me. I have a pair of jeans that will go under the knife soon for cut-offs.

I concur Doug - go to the second-hand store, buy a pair of jeans and do it yourself. It's the only way! And then they'll look exactly the way you want them to. :)
