Name something you hope for (narrow it down to one):
Off the top of my head.. World Champion San Francisco Giants
Name something in general that makes you hopeful:
I'm still alive. That alone gives me hope.
Name something that has happened recently that revived hope for you:
This is going to sound awful.. but Kiri has had bronchitis for a week, and I haven't even gotten a cough. A few years ago, I would have landed in the hospital.
Name something that makes you happy:
"He hits it high.. he hits it deep.. home run, Barry Bonds!

Here we are, a bit over a week into the 2004 campaign and things are a mixed bag for the Giants. We're currently 5-3, and sitting on top of the NL West, but we have a couple of good and bad points.
Good Points:
1. Bonds. His presence on the field changes how opponents handle the game.
2. Herges. For a man who wasn't expected to be our closer, he's done very well. 5 saves so far.
3. Neifi Perez. The big surprise of the year, Neifi has finally woken up his bat, getting the hits when we need them.
Bad Points:
1. Our pitching staff. It's taped together right now, with Nen and Schmidt starting the season on the DL.
2. General health. We are very susceptible to injuries.
So, while it's too early to tell, I'm looking for the Giants to repeat as NL West Champions. This will happen if we get our pitching under control.
The NL West bet:
gridlore (Giants) 5-3 .625
bunyip (Cubs) 3-4 .429
aurictech (Cardinals) 4-6 .400
