On this Tax Day, I collected all our loose coinage into a big freezer bag, and rode down to Safeway where they have one of those coin-counting machines (Yes, I know they charge a big percentage, but I'm willing to pay for the convenience.)

Distance: 2.084 miles
Maximum Speed: 19.0 mph
Average Speed: 11.2 mph
Time: 11 minutes, 16 seconds

There was a pretty stiff wind blowing almost directly south, which caused the trip up to be an epic struggle, and gave me that high max speed coming back. The temperature was in the mid-60s.

The big problem were the two on-ramps to Highway 85 I had to pass. I did everything right. I tried to move over early, I was checking over both shoulders often (I finally mastered the skill of doing that without swerving) and still people were coming within inches of me because they decided to get onto the ramp at the last bloody moment. Folks, look out for bicycles on the road! We are allowed to be there, and we cannot move as fast as you. Just as I have a responsibility to be aware of my surroundings to avoid an accident, so do you drivers of cars.

Oh, I got about $9.50 for the change.
