Can I start by saying how great it is to have an amazing primary care provider? Dr. Morgan is friendly, detailed, and left-handed. (A suspicious number of people in the office are lefties. I may have uncovered a cell of sinister operatives.)
The main reason for this visit was more fuckery from the "health management" assholes. Since I finished therapy, I've been seeing a psychiatric nurse practitioner in order to keep my Mirtazapine prescription current. Couldn'tCareLess, as I've named them, are refusing to pay for the visits. I wanted to see if Dr. Morgan could give me a referral, either back with my current guy or with another psych NP, or just take over the script himself. He decided that it would be easiest to take over the prescription. I told him that if I felt I needed to begin therapy again, I'd call for a referral.
We also discussed the bug I've had for the past few days (he's seeing a lot of people with it), my work, my digestive issues, and finally, the leg cramps I've been suffering. This is quite different from the neuropathy pain, as that's constant and results in muscle tremors and jerks. These are full-on cramps, moslt in my feet/ankles and hamstrings. He suggested supplements and gave me a list.
So now my daily pill parade includes daily doses of a B-complex, Vitamin E, and Magnesium. Also suggested was 4oz of tonic water before bed, due to the small amount of quinine present. When I mentioned that it's asl good for malaria. The doc seemed shocked that I know that. I explained that along with having an English, martini-loving father who would on occasion mention that drinking gin kept him safe from malaria (in San Jose) I had taken quinine while in the Army when visiting areas where malaria was still an issue.
We briefly debated the merits of gin v. tonic water, before coming to a compromise. I'll drink the water, but wear a pith helmet and say "God Save the Queen!" before drinking.
Yeah, this one's a keeper.

I am not currently plagued with leg cramps particularly, but as a kid I had terrible "growing pains" leg cramps, and quinine was the only thing that worked.
I dunno from Vit E, but magnesium has been implicated in being good vs. cramps AND nerve pain, so I keep it in my daily ration as well.
B complex is good vs cramps AND is important in treating mood swings and depression. I was prescribed the stuff for menstrual cramps and mood swings. One day the pharmacy was out of bog-standard cheap variety so I had to buy fancy organic variety; that's when I discovered that the first six ingredients or so were brewer's yeast. So there may also be much to say for your non-alcoholic beers. (I promptly had a Guinness to wash my pills down when I made that discovery, as I was in London; alcohol can also help vs, cramps, but is contraindicated for you, sadly.)
I believe a double-blind test proved that loyalty to the Empire does not actually protect very well against malaria, but a sense of humor does help vs. cramps and pain in general.
Also, thanks for reminding me to buy more magnesium!
