Back when I was a grunt, a Warning Order was issued when it was expected that some sort of action or movement was coming, but the exact nature of the mission was not yet clear enough for an actual mission order.

Consider this a Warning Order.

We believe we are very close to getting a new apartment, possibly as soon as tomorrow. We had hoped to use [livejournal.com profile] kshandra's coworkers and vehicles to move, but they are all off this weekend. Likewise, early inquiries among my coworkers show that most of them already have plans for the weekend.

So, if we do get this place in Santa Clara, and are able to move this weekend, we are going to need help.

To be specific, we will need:

  • 2-3 people able to carry furniture and boxes down one (1) flight of stairs at the current Offhand Manor.

  • 2-3 people at the new place to offload and place furniture and boxes.

  • a person who can drive - safely! - a Ryder 12' truck if need be.

Currently the plan is to have [livejournal.com profile] kshandra at the new place and me or one of our mothers at Offhand Manor acting as directors.

We cannot afford movers at this point, or we'd let them do all the work.

Anyone who wants to help is welcome, but I really need people who can help me move furniture out of our apartment, downstairs, onto a truck, and then into the new place.

As a reward, we're thinking of treating for Mongolian BBQ.

This is just a WO, but I'd love to hear some replies from people who'd be able to lend a hand when we get this place.

I have a pickup truck and enclosed cargo trailer with ramp, which happens to be empty. I also have access to a furniture dolly. I could certainly drive a Ryder truck (can has lift gate pls?)

This is not altruistic -- I have a property cleanup and a move soon myself, and could use the help and always love tasty Mongolian.

What are the dimensions of the trailer?

If I were local, I'd volunteer to drive the truck. I know that isn't of any real use, but I wanted you guys to know I'm thinking of you and sending as much good thinking your way as I can.

I'll pass the Warning Order along to Amanda and Genia (they are women, hear them roar) - and of course, I shall stand by to be standing by...

Would love to, but cannot lift over 10 lbs with my back. I can drive big truck if needed (experience with driving 24 ft Budget Trucks for Baycon) and I can handle a dolly if needed.

I'd help but the commute would be killer! Even for Mongolian BBQ.

Just wanted to drop in and say, glad you've found a place you like. My brother and his family lived in Santa Clara for several years before moving to Pleasanton. SC was very nice!

FYI, I have a Ford Explorer with a tow hitch (although my backing is waaaay out of practice), and I can drive a 12 foot truck. I can't drive stick. My contact data is in K'shandra's post.
