The Giants defeated the Houston Astros to clinch the National League Wild Card playoff berth.

Highlights: Barry Bonds smashing a homerun into the bay. A line shot that you knew from impact was not coming down anytime soon.

The Giants' pitching staff, which got out of several tight situations.

Tom Goodwin's 2-out pinch-hit double that scored two runs.

Jeff Kent's triple.

Now, we face the Atlanta Braves. We played them seven times this year, with a 3-3 record (one game called due to rain, and not made up.)

GO GIANTS!!

Hooray! Go Giants!

Unless we end up with a Twins-Giants world series, in which case you'll be my mortal enemy, sex god or not. :)

YEAH! Go Giants!

What do you think the chances are for the Giants to beat the Braves? It sure would be nice to see a Series in PacBell. :)

Can you imagine the crowd at the Knothole? Or in McCovey Cove? [livejournal.com profile] dafydd, [livejournal.com profile] clairaide and I were at the final game of the season last year...so help me, you could've walked from one end of the cove to the other and not gotten wet.

This season we went 3-3 against the Braves, with that one game rained out and never made up. Most of these games were played early in the season, before we really got hot.

The Braves have one of the best pitching staffs in the majors, but we have the best bullpen by far. Also, our pitchers hit well enough that walking the number 8 hitter to get to the pitcher is not that good idea. Looking at the Braves, I don't see the same strength.

I think the key will be for us to stop leaving so many men on base, and keep Atlanta from making the big plays. This one is going to be close, but I say we take i
