Date: 21 Apr 2007 00:20 (UTC)This isn't new. SJG took Pyramid from print to web (and later resurrected The Journal of the Travellers' Aid Society) with great success. From a business standpoint, it makes sense. Magazines in the gaming world are traditional money losers that get published either to keep interest up in between releases (for house organs) or to provide space for articles that don't fit genre or system conventions. Both these functions can be handled by web sites.
But damnit, The Dragon (yes, I'm old school) was part of the gaming world. Everyone read it, photocopied articles, and argued about E.G.G.'s latest column.
