I've found a drawback to living in California.

Do you have any idea how hard it would be for me to go on a three state crime spree? Hell, the closest state line is a five or six hour drive away! All the drama is lost if you have to keep stopping for gas!

I could go on a five-county crime spree, but it just doesn't have the same glamor, y'know?

well, if you hit the southernmost corner where California and Arizona meet, you'd have two states, and you could haul ass over the border into Mexico, pull a heist there and disappear....
