For some reason, I'm not really enjoying Silicon. My panel today went well (it was about superheroes in the real world, and what they might do to make money, but we wandered far afield) and I'm enjoying seeing people, but I'm just a bit off.

Part of it is the comic-book theme. I haven't been into comics in years. So a great deal of the programming is lost on me. That I'm tired as hell, and broke, and air quality currently is somewhere south of suck.

I actually fell asleep in a hotel hallway chair. According to [livejournal.com profile] misdev I'm just adorable when I'm sleeping. Along with my panel, the only other thing i attended was Trailer Park. We left the hotel in search of food and I decided to skip the party floor. When I'm this tired and cranky, I tend to bite people.

Tomorrow I have one panel to do, and one I want to attend. I'm probably hitting the sack early.

Oh, and a big thank you to the Detroit Tigers for eliminating the Yankees, and here's hoping the Mets finish of the Bums tonight. In college football, we have Army - 62, VMI - 7. Go Army!!!

I'm parking in the "South 40" lot of the neighboring office complex. They don't appear to be enforcing their parking over the weekend -- why bother? -- and the hotel lot is full, so I reckon the Doubletree's parking contractor doesn't care, either.

But you're right about the atmosphere. The problem is that while the Doubletree is one of the best hotels for fannish conventions I've ever seen, the convention needs to be, I think, at least 1000 people and probably less than 3000, with an optimum at 2000 attendees. Too small and you get the pea-in-the-barrel effect we have this weekend; too large and it's uncomfortably crowded -- and you dare not move your vehicle because you'll never find a place to park when you return.
