Checking Amazon for the new Iron Maiden album (six days!! poing!) I found these:

The Piano Tribute to Iron Maiden

The String Quartet Tribute to Iron Maiden

Of the two, the strings are closer to the actual sound of the songs. It's amusing to hear the violin used to simulate Bruce's scream on Number of the Beast. But still.. Buh?

More frighteningly, these are part of a series.. and they've done Slayer and Metallica.

I'm assuming you haven't heard the band Hayseed Dixie then. You haven't really heard AC/DC until you heard it played bluegrass style on violin, banjo and slide guitar. They have also made a Kiss album and a couple of compilation albums.

While I'm at it I recommend that you check out The Hellacopters (www.hellacopters.com), especially the "High Visibility" album. Judging from what I have seen of you music taste they should be right up you alley. You get a couple of preview tracks when you click on each album.

I have heard Hayseed Dixie. Their cover of "Gin and Juice" is one of the tracks I treasure.

It wasn't so much the different-style tribute, it was the styles. Piano and String Quartet for Maiden? That just boinked my brain.

I'll check the Helicopters out. Thanks.
