A nice end to a looong day.

Today was interesting. I started off with four deliveries, no pick-ups. I was back to the warehouse by 1100hrs. I consulted with one of the managers, who told me I could take lunch. I laid down on my truck bed using one of the pieces of 4x4 (for holding strut off the bed, so it is easier to lift with a forklift) and a folded sweatshirt as a pillow. Hey, the warm metal bed felt great on my back, I was parked in the shade.. bliss!
Near the end of my lunch, one of the warehouse guys came over and said he needed to load me with three pallets. No biggie, they weren't going far (right by Municipal Stadium and Kelly Park for you locals.) I get back from that and am told that I need to get to Benicia - as fast as possible. Benicia is the site of our main warehouse, and they didn't send us 5,000 feet of strut. And said we weren't getting it until tomorrow. Which in when 2,000 feet of it has to be delivered.

Ah, but it gets better! I get to Benicia, only to find that there is a big rig loading the strut for San Jose!!! They graciously load me with 2,00 feet, and back south I go.
Total round-trip distance? 116 miles. Total time? About 2.5 hours.
But wait, there's more! I get back, the strut is being taken off my truck, and Tim tells me he needs me to go out again. At this point I was closing in on 9.5 hours. But they are both relatively close, so I go. Two pick-ups, what could go wrong?
Did i mention the 80,000 illegal immigrants and their supports demanding what my legally admitted father worked for? Tied up traffic like you wouldn't believe. By the time I got to the second stop, they were long closed. All in all, I clocked close to 11 hours today. Needless to say, I'm skipping BASFA.
But Kiri wanted to go, and do some shopping, so she dropped me at home. Where I found not only my last unemployment check, but three boxes from UPS! My contributer's copy of GURPS Traveller: Interstellar Wars, Iron Maiden - Powerslave, and John Varley's Red Thunder.
Almost makes up for the craptacular day.
Now I'm going to eat something, drink my beer, and probably skip the Giants game. I'm that tired.
