Thanks to eleri for pointing out this fascinating site. It's pictures developed from lost, antique cameras. Some of the oldest date back to the 1920s or so. Utterly amazing.

That was really touching, in a way, sort of what I read people's LJ for.

The curator's laments that he can't show the families the photos as he would like get a bit old, especially since by putting them on the Internet, he's making that actually possible.
