[livejournal.com profile] kshandra and went down to San Jose to help [livejournal.com profile] hellloooonurse celebrate his early release from the clutches of the state. It was old home week at Starport, many faces we hadn't seen in a long time. Good pizza, good company.

On the way down, we were both starved so we hit In and Out Burger. To our horror we discovered that they were now adding biblical verses to the packaging. Hidden on the drink cups was John 3:16, on the hamburger wrapper was Revelation 3:20. For those not familiar with the Bible...

John 3:16
"For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life

Revelation 3:20
'Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and will dine with him, and he with Me.

Never mind that these are items that are supposed to be wadded up and thrown away.. I dislike this sort of sneaky evangelical action. So we will not be eating at In and Out anymore.

We met [livejournal.com profile] dafydd for dinner at flames, were we saw people camping out for the new Star Wars movie. I can't understand this... the first movie sucked! Once burned, I say. But to each his own, I suppose.

At dinner we discussed travelling to the Callahanicon Annex in Portland, and decided that we just didn't have the money. I'd rather save my book money for WorldCon (which we just found out we've overpaid for.. Kiri and I are getting $35 checks soon!) Putting me on a bus to visit [livejournal.com profile] eleri is an option later.

So now I need to get to work. The bloody book is late, and 2/3rds done. And officially late. Aiee!!!

You mean to tell me that the cup of Christ is actually made of styrofoam and filled with coffee? Or is it waxed paper and filled with something carbonated?

They've done the verses forever, it's not new. It doesn't really bother me -- the fact they pay their workers good wages and treat them well compared to other fast food chains is more important to me.

I'd have to agree to that, plus the fact that they're very subtle and hidden (most folks I know had to have it pointed out to them). I'd be a bit more concerned if "John 3:16" was blazed in big letters across the side of the cup.

But to each his own. :)

WorldCon is significantly more important than visiting me! I'm always here, Worldcon isn't always 30 miles away :)
