Why the FUCK can't I write!?! The ideas are all there in my head, but when I try to get them down on the screen, NOTHING!

This is really pissing me right the hell off!

I'm about to drill holes in my head to let the words out.

When I get blocked, I write snippets of description that have nothing to do with the actual project I'm trying to do. There's no stress attached to them, so the words flow easier. And getting any words out helps others come easier afterward; I think of it as a siphon.

I've gotten around that a few times on my stories by skippoing the scene that's being a problem and writing a later scene that I know what to do with. Often I can then go back and do the problem scene ok.

I have the same (or at least a similar) problem. I've got about three different campaign settings, for Traveller and D20 running around in my head, as well as a fiction piece , and for the life of me I CANNOT get them down on either paper or into the computer. The words aren't funneling out of my head onto the page or screen. Verrrry frustrating...

I usually outline what I'm trying to write, and then go from there.

I also just write. I just get words on the paper. I may end up cutting them, but they're down and moving out of my brain at least. I've written 800+ words that have ended up in the trash bin because they were so bad, but not recently.

I guess that having a deadline that's only 48 hours away also helps. I have to get the words moving.
