I've been playing a lot of Nethack recently, mostly Wizards (one of the harder classes to ascend.)
So I've been dying a lot, and leaving numeorus "bones files", levels where a character has died. All his stuff is there, mostly cursed, along with his ghost, and all the monsters that were present at the time of death. A bones file can be a treasure trove or a quick death.
I also use a utility called Hearse, which is a repository for bones. Every time I run it, it searches for new bones in my Nethack directory and uploads them to the server. For every bones I send up, I get a random one back. Nice little tool, adds a lot to the game.
The uphot of this? I now have 21 bones files in my directory. That's an insane number. The game has roughly 65 levels total. The breakdown:
12 in the Dungeons of Doom, including the Oracle
7 in the Gnomish Mines, including Minetown
2 in Gehemmon. Asmodeus's Lair and the entrance to Vlad's Tower.
