Despite my geeky love of detective shows, this one never grew on me. Until last night.

For the uninitiated, Cold Case is about a group of detectives who look into cold cases.. unsolved crimes that may be decades old. They use new techniques and good detective skills to finally solve them.

Last night, they handled a case that started at a 1977 showing of the Rocky Horror Picture Show. Guest starring as the about-to-be-paroled serial killer was Barry Bostwick.. who of course play Brad Majors (asshole!) in Rocky.

Cute idea, with a neat actor tie in, but what made this episode great was the director. He used the same wipes as in Rocky, had everybody over act, like in Rocky, and used the film's soundtrack for incidental music. But he saved the best for last. At the end of the episode, we see the major characters attending a showing of Rocky, and then we get the credits. Which were done in the RHPS bloody letters over Science Fiction Double Feature (reprise)! When they showed Barry Bostwick, they split screen to show him as Brad in the good old days.

Great episode.

Alas, I missed it. Helping friends do an emergency pack of their house. :-(

I prefer Cold Squad to Cold Case. It's less Hollywood glitzy...
