Well, this was fun in a non-sarcastic way.
Since we had numerous errands to run, along with my interview, Kirsten and I were both heading out. But before we could, the phone rang.
I have another interview tomorrow. This for a driver job. Kirsten also has an interview tomorrow, so we'll see how it goes.
But anyway, we run by
murphymom's place for some gas money, then over to The Villages for my interview.
I think it went very well. The place is a retirement community (about 4,000 residents) built around a golf course. They have a full-time grave shift opening up, and Ghu knows I don't mind working nights. Pay would be $11.50/hour, with a nice benefits package after ninety days. The men interviewing seemed impressed that I brought a copy of my resume, my DMV printout, and my sheet with all my job information and references. I think this will be a good fit. As I was being driven back to the front gate, Bob told me I was one of the best interviews they had done so far, and to expect to be called back for a second interview early next week.
So that was an official good thing. After that, we headed out to finally pay the rent, and then to Palo Alto.
ksahndra was jonesing for a baked potato with all the trimmings. It was decided that we'd hit Taxi's.
They didn't have potatoes. The truck broke down. The look on Kiri's face was priceless.
After that, on to Gamescape. In my continuing effort to streamline my life and reduce clutter, I put all my D&D stuff in a box and traded it in. Honestly, I'm never going to play it, since I have GURPS and the Hero System which I prefer in every possible way. So with my store credit, we picked up GURPS: Infinite Worlds, Dork Tower 29 & 30, and Kiri grabbed a card game.
Another errand! Kirsten found a mouse for me on Freecycle. Picked that up. My new computer is almost ready to live! The plan had been to go to Grand Central Starport, but both of us were getting rundown, so we struggled through the final two errands. Hit OSH for a power strip for the new 'puter (and priced Burning Man supplies) and tried to exchange a book at Buns and Noodle. Didn't manage that, but we did put in our order for the new Harry Potter book.
Then home. And now, baseball. Which better go better than last night's game!
