I really think I enjoy this part of the game more than the actual football games..
OK, here are how the trades worked out.
1st: Manning (QB 97) to the Detroit Lions for Stevens (QB 76), a 1st round pick, and a 3rd round pick. Stevens is 24, with passing accuracy and power numbers of 91 and 94. He's also a lot more mobile than Manning.
2nd: Ferguson (LE 71) and a 1st round pick (from Lions) to the New Orleans Saints for Roberts (LE 89) and a 3rd round pick. This vastly improves a weak pass rush, which had been a major problem for me.
3rd: Martin (CB 82) and a 2nd round pick to the New York Jets for Vanelli (CB 87) and a 3rd round pick. Martin was an aging player with good hands but poor speed. This trade gives me a secondary rated at 92.
My current draft look for next season
No pick in the 1st round.
One pick in the 2nd (from the Lions)
Four picks in the 3rd round (49ers, Lions, Jets, Saints)
One pick in the 4th (49ers)
Two picks in the 5th (49ers, Lions)
One pick in the 6th (49ers)
One pick in the 7th (49ers)
After all this, I have a salary cap figure of $6.85 million. Quite an improvement.

BTW, I got Madden 2004 for the PS2 at EB Games this past weekend, and I'm loving it.
