First of many, I suspect. With a few weeks left in the year, it's time to look back in confusion.



1. What did you do in 2004 that you'd never done before? Went to New York City.

2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year? I didn't really make resolutions last year.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth? No, but I found out my sister was pregnant.

4. Did anyone close to you die? No.

5. What countries did you visit? Didn't get outside the US this year.

6. What would you like to have in 2005 that you lacked in 2004? A motorcycle.

7. What date from 2004 will remain etched upon your memory, and why? September 18th: Barry Bonds hits his 700th career home run.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year? Sad to say, my piece work on GT: Nobles and Interstellar Wars. I really need to write more.

9. What was your biggest failure? Probably not having Imperial Navy gel into a coherent book. All the questions about the book's legal staus distracted me, and I just sort-of wandered away from it.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury? Amazingly enough, no. I was pretty healthy this year.

11. What was the best thing you bought? GURPS Fourth Edition

12. Whose behavior merited celebration? [livejournal.com profile] kshandra has made some amazing steps in turning things around in her life.

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed? The Republican Party, and some of its supporters.

14. Where did most of your money go? Rent and food.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about? The NYC trip, the Red Sox' amazing run to the World Series victory.

16. What song will always remind you of 2004? Green Day - American Idiot

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
i. happier or sadder? a bit happier
ii. thinner or fatter? about the same
iii. richer or poorer? still broke.

18. What do you wish you'd done more of? Social stuff.

19. What do you wish you'd done less of? Procrastination.

20. How will you be spending Christmas? The Berry clan is gathering, [livejournal.com profile] isomeme and his crew, my sister Ann, her husband, and Kirsten and I will all crowd into my mom's apartment for Christmas Day. This will be the first Christmas in eight years that neither of us have had to go drive a blue van at 0400 on Christmas morning.

22. Did you fall in love in 2004? Every single day with my wonderful wife.

23. How many one-night stands? ROTFLMAO!!!

24. What was your favorite TV program? Countdown with Keith Olbermann

25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year? Not really.

26. What was the best book you read? In the Presense of Mine Enemies - Harry Turtledove

27. What was your greatest musical discovery? I rediscovered Judas Priest. My new dicovery wasn't a band, but a station: Channel 104.9

28. What did you want and get? Several new Turtledove books.

29. What did you want and not get? Tickets to the Barenaked Ladies concert last summer.

30. What was your favorite film of this year? Fahrenheit 9/11

31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you? I turned 38, and celebrated by going to a Giants game, and doing the traditional taco nosh at my mom's place.

32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying? World Champion San Francisco Giants.

33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2004? "I'm only wearing black until they make something darker."

34. What kept you sane? Baseball.

35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most? None, to be honest.

36. What political issue stirred you the most? The war in Iraq.

38. Who was the best new person you met? [livejournal.com profile] freetrav

39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2004: ? None really. I really like making it through a year without having a Very Special Episode in my life.

Yup. "Without a Very Special Episode." Been fixed.

The line about black clothing has been around for a long time, I see it on buttons at cons all the time.
