When I was younger, before I understood the Second Amendment's purpose and context, I had the standard liberal attitude about gun control: "Guns bad, let's get rid of as many as we can." Even now, it's all about other people's rights to bear arms.
Guns scare me a little - the potential for mishap, the responsibility involved in carrying a potentially deadly weapon. I'd rather not have that. (I'm aware that this choice may mean that someday I wind up on the other end of one, being threatened/coerced or worse. So be it.)
One consequence of this is that I have immense respect for all the men and women who, by serving as military or police, make bearing arms a choice/luxury for me.
