Pitcher Jerome Williams returned after more than a month's absense and nailed down the Padre's hot hitters for seven innings, allowing only four hits and a single earned run. Ray Durham got his 16th homerun of the season, and Bonds showed all his detractors that he can infact run out ground balls, beating out a throw at first for his only hi9t of the series.
So, with three games to play, here is where we stand:
3 behind the Dodgers for the NL West. If we sweep them this weekend, we play a single-game playoff in SF to decide the Division title.
Tied with the Houston Astros for the Wildcard. The Astros face the Colorado Rockies at home.
One game ahead of the Chicago Cubs, who have three games against Atlanta.
