It was a blunder of Bucknerian importance, only it allowed the Boston Red Sox to win a World Series. That was pre-curse, of course.
In the deciding game of the 1912 Series at Fenway Park, the New York Giants took a 2-1 lead in the top of the 10th inning on a single by Fred Merkle, but the Red Sox rallied to score twice in the bottom of the inning after Giants center fielder Fred Snodgrass dropped Clyde Engle's flyball. The dynastic New York Giants of John McGraw had a World Series slip through their fingers.
It's time for payback, baby.
This Friday, 1915. Saturday, we get Pedro vs. the Puka Shells!
