Massive amounts of graphic frustration..

OK, I'm still trying to do the Sylea Imperials for Madden 2003.
It should be simple. The game provides blank templates in the (alleged) transparent color. I've gotten transparent gifs of the Traveller Sunburst. It should be a simple matter of putting one on the other, doing a little centering, and saving, right?
Wrong. No matter what I do, the "transparent color" R - 255, G - 0, B - 255 shows up! Frustration.
I'll play some more. One problem is that the manual says one thing, but the ready-made art in the custom art folder is made to different standards. For example, the main logo in the book is supposed to be 144x144 pixels. Yet in the samples, it's 128x128. The book say 8-bit, but half the samples are 4-bit.
Also, since I'm an epileptic klutz, I've switch to Coach mode. I just call the plays. Where's my clipboard and headset?

I'll also bring either a router or a hub (probably a router, to maximize use of the in-room high-speed Internet access), plus Cat-5 cable.
