I'm fighting a bit of a cold, and have been coughing all morning. Due to my screwed up lungs, coughing is an adventure for me. Gods know what I'll manage to do.

Well, I just had a massive coughing fit, and suddenly my throat felt like I had breathed in CS gas. This led to a sudden run to the bathroom for water. Seriously, the sensation is unique, and very clear. I felt like somebody had gassed me!

There's no way I could have been holding particles of CS in my lungs for bloody years, is there?

There is actually ... the lungs are really good at holding small sticky particles ... think asbestos, or coal dust.

Stomach acid, more likely. It's mostly HCl, and probably has a similar effect on mucous membranes.

Possibly. But CS is very distinctive, and I'd know it anywhere. I've coughed up enough acid in my day to recognize it.

Amazing what gets stuck in our systems..

It might be possible... you'd have to dig though.
