The Romans were gamers! Christie's is auctioning off a 2nd century glass d20!
"Several polyhedra in various materials with similar symbols are known from the Roman period. Modern scholarship has not yet established the game for which these dice were used. " We know! D&D III edition!
This brings up several disturbing possibilities..
1. Lou Zochhi is either a lot older than we suspected, or is a time traveller.
2. The lead poisoning that drove several emperors mad didn't come from pipes and drinking goblets, but from too many nights painting orcs for the climatic battle at the end of the campaign.
3. Why was Julius Caeser really killed? He ran a group through the Temple of Elemental Evil at low level.
4. WOTC will have dXX Glory of Rome out real soon now.
