Topless joint can't give money away. 4 S.F. nonprofits refuse $4,330 donation from a North Beach strip club

Give me a break. In an economy where every charity is whining daily about the lack of donations and announcing dramatically that they have to stop feeding dogs who are single mothers of crack heads, or whatever, here are a group of women and their boss who are trying to give away money to good causes.. and the charities stick their noses in the air and say "your money is tainted. We have standards here."

Screw that. You're beggars in good suits. Your jobs are to get money from anyone who will give it, and turn it into good works. If the strippers want to give you a few grand, you smile, say thank you, and put that money to use! Screw the concept of the donators not being good enough. They're dancers who work bloody long and hard hours to put food on the table and keep a roof over their heads. They are the ones who are lowering their standards here! Their standard of living, that is.

Take the money, say thank you, and give them the same credit you'd give the Getty Foundation. Then do the good works you promised.

I have to agree. I can see it if they were in a line of charity that might specifically oppose the concept of a strip club, but the homeless in the Tenderloin are too good for a girlie joint's money? It's a perfectly legal business, not drug money.

The really sad thing is this morning's San Jose Mercury News hasa big story about Bay Area food banks desperately needing money. Yo! Ask the strippers!
