SF is in the midst of a mayoral run-off. Willie Brown is leaving office due to term limits, and two candidates are left out of the usual SF horde. Willie's style, both in management and in dress, led to him being tagged as "His Williness" by the late, great, Herb Caen. Since then, our political cartoonists have portrayed him as an emperor, ermine robe and all. The two people left in the election are Gavin Newsom and Matt Gonzalez. Ammiano is the current President of the Board of Supervisors (who lost big in the election). Alioto is another defeated mayoral contender, from the oldest political family in SF.
