San Francisco Giants: 2
Florida Marlins: 0
Complete game shutout.. This isn't a phrase you hear often when discussing post=season ball. Most managers will look down the road and prefer to keep the pitchers rested. Keeping them rested for the next series. Not today, as Jason Schmidt threw nine almost flawless innings. He needed 111 throws to complete the game with 5 strikeouts and no walks issued.
The two teams combined for just six hits (3 each) and the Giants first run came on a throwing error by the Marlins' third baseman Cabera. Our second run came after Bonds was intentionally walked in the 8th. He took off on a steal attempt. The throw to first was very late and in the dirt. Then Alfonzo doubled in Bonds. That was for offense. A real pitchers duel.
Giants lead the best of five series 1-0. Tomorrow the Giants send Ponson to the mound against Penny.
GO GIANTS!!!
