OK, I got five responses, to my Truth or Lie meme.. No for the answers!
1. I sang with a professional band when I was five.
True When I was five, my family sailed on the S.S. Spirit of London to Mexico. My brother and I were the only kids on the damn ship, and to be honest, I had it all over Craig when it came to being cute. Among the adults I charmed, was the "Marty O'Collin Trio", who played onboard. One day I sang "Old McDonald" with them at lunch. Go paid off with lunch.
2. I was awarded a medal in the Army for knowing how to dig latrines
True As a PFC, I was sent to Field Hygiene & Sanitation class. Normally, you have to be a Sergeant to take this course, but my First Sergeant didn't want to waste a NCO on what he considered a waste of time. So I went, and learned the joys of latrine construction, where to place latrines and field kitchens, and how to recognize the scat of various vermin (Corporals were not part of the course.) After the day-long course, we had the obligatory multiple choice test. A few weeks later I discovered that I had scored 100%. Not only had I scored 100, but I was the only FH&S NCO in the entire XVIIIth Airborne Corps who had scored 100. So the Army decided to award me an Army Acievement Medal
3. During my high-school days, I was once locked in a trophy cabinet.
True I was an easy target. But I knew what to do. The case in question was big.. and empty. So the jocks shoved me in, locked the door, and then were a bit shocked when I pulled out a book and sat down to read. They idiots stuck around trying to get a reaction out of me until the Vice Principal showed up.
4. I have been the Guest of Honor at a SF convention
Lie While I have been a guest/program participant at several conventions, I've never been a GoH. At Orycon, I was the only gaming guest, but they didn't having a Gaming GoH.
5. My little toes on each foot curl under the toe next to them.
True Runs in my mom's family.
