I finally have the money in pocket to have a nice pizza feast. I call the nearest Round Table.. they don't deliver here. Same for the next two.

Near as I can figure, my heavily-Mexican neighborhood doesn't get food deliveries.

So now I'm hungry, and pissed off.

Well, I'm a pretty good cook, and I can prepare a variety of dishes.

OTOH, I calculate that it would take me about four days to deliver (assuming that I would have to drive*), so I suspect that asking me for food would be a suboptimal response to your current hunger.... ;-)

*Sending cooked food via Greyhound would be faster (it took me about 48 hours to ride The Dog from Baton Rouge to San Jose for BayCon 2000). OTOH, I doubt that cooked food sent by Greyhound would be of much use by the time it got there.... :-P

Lin lives a mile and a half from a Pizza Hut. And they don't deliver to her place. Stupid, but they apparently drew the delivery limit at the city limits. And she lives one *block* outside the city.

It's weird. But I looked at the limits of the delivery areas, and it's just this one four-square block are of older buildings, heavily populated by lower income, mostly Hispanic families that aren't getting the deliveries.

Almost certainly, it's because the neighborhood is considered too high a risk for robbery (or worse) of the delivery driver(s).

That seems likely.

A couple of years ago, Pizza Hut said that they won't deliver to my apartment complex after dark, due to robbery concerns. Fortunately, Papa John's does deliver here. Or, at least they did before my most recent deployment. I haven't tried ordering a pizza since my return.

I meant to ask, how is the readjustment to Louisana going?

Missing the call to prayer? I'm sure we can arrange one for you... :)
