I was going to write about my day Saturday, but then I go this phone call..

so, Saturday we helped [livejournal.com profile] murphymom move to her new digs in Campbell. [livejournal.com profile] kshandra and I climb into [livejournal.com profile] dafydd's new truck, which is oddly playa colored now, and head out to Belmont to pick up the U-Haul. There, we encounter the slowest damn group of pierced idiots ever. I used to work at a packing supply place, and we rented Ryder vehicles. Had I worked at this speed, I would have been fired. We pick up the truck.. and it's near empty. Luckily, [livejournal.com profile] kshandra had been provided with a credit card for just this situation.

Get to [livejournal.com profile] murphymom's and after a little bit of noodling (and cat worship) we get to it. Luckily, we were only moving about two rooms worth of stuff, and nothing extraordinarily heavy. I got to take advantage of my skinny bod to slip behind a piece of furniture to disassemble it (Look! Up in the sky! It's Paper-Thin Man! I declined to handle the heavy items coming down the stairs, for fear of a twitch that might cause me to drop both me and the item in a bad crash. In fairly short order, we had the truck and [livejournal.com profile] murphymom's minivan loaded.

[livejournal.com profile] murphymom offered us lunch at a nearby Mexican place. It was agreed this would be a very good thing. So we all took off. [livejournal.com profile] kshandra, myself, [livejournal.com profile] dafydd, [livejournal.com profile] kshandra's brother and half-sister (who has become a magnificent sullen teenager.. she could give lessons.) and [livejournal.com profile] kshandra's half brother. And of course, Donna the [livejournal.com profile] murphymom The chips and salsa were excellent. Nice and hot, although a bit watery. There was a tense moment when [livejournal.com profile] kshandra's bothers would not stop talking about how to kill innocents in the ultra-violent video games they play. I had to leave the table after my request to change the subject was ignored. Call me sensitive but hearing a 10 year old talking about how cool it is to be able to blow up hospitals just sickens me.

Came back in. Food was delivered. I had my usual virgin burrito (just meat and cheese, with red sauce. rice and beans were held. Thank you for getting this right! The Burrito was excellent, and with a few drops for the hot sauce, it was perfect. Food was devoured.

After eating we all get on the road. [livejournal.com profile] kshandra's half-siblings decide not to come and help (and to be honest, I don't really see what help they could have been. This was a lot of heavy lifting.) We find the place and start the off-loading process. Let me state this clearly: [livejournal.com profile] murphymom's new place rocks. Her bathroom is larger than the place [livejournal.com profile] kshandra and I first shared. She's on the ground floor. She has a pool. It's a one bedroom that doesn't look like a one bedroom, if that makes sense. After everything was moved in (a fairly quick process) The three of us left to return the truck. I was dropped off at home, where I got the phone call from the Container Store. Saturday evening, my downstairs neighbor comes up begging for any kind of painkiller. She had a filling fall out, and can't see her dentist until Monday. All I have is generic acetaminophen, so I offer her a shot of whisky. Since I hate to see anyone drink alone, I pour myself one. Cheers!

Wake up Sunday morning with my muscles reminding me I am no longer an 18-year-old soldier, and I might have overdone it yesterday. Moaning and groaning, I cancel any activity that involves using more than one muscle group at a time. Luckily I have the Niners and Giants to watch.

St. Louis Rams: 27
San Francisco 49ers: 24

(in overtime)

This game was all about missed opportunities.

San Francisco Giants: 5
San Diego Padres: 4

(in 11 innings)

Magic Number is now 5. Magic Number to clinch home field advantage is 16.

With the 1-1 Rams playing the 2-0 Seahawks in a divisional matchup next week, who do you want to win? The Seahawks, just to keep the Rams from posting a win, or the Rams, to keep the Seahawks from going 3-0?

Since I'm a 49er Faithful, I have to go for whoever is playing the Rams.

Yes, that's what I expected. ;-)

OTOH, while I dislike the 49ers (mostly due to the 16 months I spend in exile at DLI), there are now two games a season that I hope they win: the two games against the Arizona Cardinals. I wonder who has the Tempe franchise for "Trade Bidwill" merchandise....
