Various people bothered me in the shower, and peppered me with questions:

1. Assuming you could drive and someone offered to give you a street legal vehicle of your choice, what would you choose?
A nicely-chopped Harley-Davidson. Preferably a custom job from West Coast Choppers. For a car, a gas-electric hybrid. I'm just not into cars the way I'm into bikes.
2. How many Dead shows have you attended?
At least fifty. I lost count.
3. Of the various martial arts action movie/TV stars, whose ass could you kick most easily? Who would be the toughest to defeat?
Currently? Bruce Lee because he's dead. Hand-to-hand combat was never my forte' I've had some training in Aikido, and Army combat training, but most of the action stars would kick my ass.
4. If you could play any position in any single football game you've watched, which game would you pick and what position and why? (Note: You cannot change the outcome of the game.)
Starting tight end for the 49ers in the 1981 NFC Championship game against Dallas. One of the greatest games I've ever seen, and the TE had an amazing view of The Catch. (Montana's TD pass to Dwight Clark that won the game for us.. Clark made an amazing leaping catch in the corner of the end zone.)
5. Who was your first baseball hero and why? How old were you?
I've only recently come to enjoy baseball, and be a big fan. The fervor of the recent convert, eh? So I'd have to say Giants pitcher Dave Dravecky, who came back from bone cancer to pitch in the majors again. Alas, after a few starts his weakened arm just snapped, and he had to retire. But he came back, and that was the important part. Currently, it is Giants' catcher Benito Santiago.

1) You were in the army. What's your favourite personal "No shit, there I was..." story?
I once saw my CO's M-113A3 Armored Personnel Carrier flies at least ten feet in the air. We were charging down this hill, they didn't see a natural ramp at the bottom, and off they flew. Went a good thirty feet, hit, road wheels blew off, track shredded, and it left an amazing path of destruction behind it. Nobody seriously hurt, Thank Eris, and once the dust settled and it was clear that there were no injuries beyond bruises and a broken arm, everyone started laughing.
2) What do you like best about living in the Bay Area?
The diversity, the culture, and this is where my roots are.
3) You're being given a chance to create and moderate one hour panel at Worldcon on the subject of your choice. What's the subject, and why? Who would you pick to be on the panel?
Net Culture. Are we becoming closer because of the Internet? Or are people of similar interests becoming more isolated as they gather in world spanning cliques?
I can't really decide who I'd like on the panel. It'd be an interesting one though.
4) If you could spend one hour in conversation with any author, living or dead, who would you choose?
Dante
5) What is the accomplishment in your life that you are most proud of?
Living. Seriously, I was given a 60/40 chance of making it to my 30th birthday, and now I'm facing 37. surgery, post-op problems, chemotherapy, pneumonia, epilepsy.. it's been a very long, hard road, and I keep winning.

1) What was your best gaming moment ever...
As a player, when we gamed the death of won of my Runequest characters. I was leaving for the Army in a few weeks, so I had to leave the game. I was playing a disgraced Storm Bull Khan, and we set it up that I redeemed myself doing a last stand against chaos in Dorastor. Very nicely done, and some of the players actually teared up as my life ran out.
As a DM, running a Traveller game where the players got so into it, they spent four full hours without ever breaking character. Simple merchant adventure, but it just rocked along.
2) ...and your worst moment in the military?
Seeing a member of my platoon get killed in a training accident. We were on the Battalion Assault Course at Fort Benning, and doing a live-fire assault. The soldier misheard a command, zigged when he should have zagged, and ran directly in front of a firing M-60 machine gun. Took about ten rounds before the gunner could stop shooting. Stupid fucking accident, and it cost an 18 year old his life. I had never felt that low before.
3) Assume that you've somehow laid your hands on the One Ring, kicked Sauron's bitchy little ass so hard he isn't going to re-discorporate for several Ages, and Middle Earth is yours to play with. What's it going to look like a century from now?
Peaceful. All the nations are free to do what they want, but attempt to raid or conquer each other, and it's Smite Time!
4) What do you think your life's purpose is...
I don't have a purpose, I'm just here. What I make of this life is up to me, and me alone.
5) ...and how would you like your obituary to read?
"He got away with it."
