Who was that unmasked man?

Well, that was weird. We just went to od our weekly shopping. . . and didn't have to wear masks. Safeway had a sign at the door saying that the fully vaccinated didn't have to wear maks. so we both took the opportunity.

It had been so long that I had forgotten what it felt like to be inside a store unmasked. About half of the shoppers were maskless.

But in a sign of how uneven the reopening is, I had a book on hold at the library across the street from Safeway, and they were still doing lobby pick-up only, masks required even in the line outside, and one person at a time inside. I'm really hoping they open up again soon because hanging out at the library is my go-to escape on very hot days.

I think I'm going to remain masked outside the house for a few months yet. Why take chances with others' health that I shouldn't have to?

I continue to wear a mask while shopping and in other stores, although I have started going to dine-in restaurants again, where I take off my mask while eating. The problem I have is that I fear that the people who are unvaccinated are the most likely to be not wearing masks, especially with more than half the people in Nevada (and much more than that outside the two major metro areas) not vaccinated and spouting nonsense like "vaccines are poison!" and "viruses are a hoax!"

There is also the matter that I seem to be having less trouble with pollen and dust when wearing a mask. I am not wearing one out in open walks so much anymore (unless the wind is blowing; you know what playa dust is like), but I always try to keep one handy.
