I almost wish I had a port at this point.

Well, that was a fucking ordeal. Because of some concerns about things seen on my previous chest CT, I had to go back today for an abdominal scan. No worries, I've had plenty of CTs in the past.
The issue here was they wanted contrast. Which requires an injection. I have tiny little veins that have been abused for two decades now. The CT tech, who had seen this last week, immediately punted. I ended up walking through the clinic in just the stupid hospital gown as we went up to nuclear medicine to let a real pro try.
It took two sticks, but she got a line going. Then came the tragic comedy routine where my tech forgot which end of the catheter adaptor needed to be plugged into the line. We head back downstairs, I'm on the table, and she starts the contrast flow.
Immediate sharp pain at the site. Abort! (she actually said this) I lay there for about ten minutes while she called the radiologist to ask if we could do the scan without contrast. That's what we ended up doing.
The actual scanning took five minutes. Fucking around trying to get a line into my arm took the better part of an hour. Now I fully expect to hear that they need a scan with contrast to be sure.
I have just finished scarfing a burrito the size of my head from Taqueria Vallarta. Because did I mention I had to fast for this? The burrito was accompanied by a beer. There is more of that in the near future.
