An update to the eye situation.
The Ophthalmologist I saw Monday did all sorts of tests, took pictures, and there were graphs and topological maps of my eyes and all sorts of crazy shit. The end result? "Interesting." She wanted me to see a retinal specialist immediately, and we had two options: Gilroy or Santa Cruz. As any local knows, when presented with an excuse to drive over the hill, you take it.
She also ordered a slew of lab work and a chest X-ray. Because she wants to rule out tuberculosis. Which, of course, had to be done at two different places here in Silicon Valley. So we took the frankly beautiful drive to Santa Cruz where the retina specialists did many of the same tests and pictures and said. . .
. . .that they needed to do another test. Luckily, this one can be done at their Campbell location, which is a 15-minute drive from home. Fortified with Gatorade and Cookies and Cream Twix, we drove back over the hill. (For the non-locals, "the hill" is Highway 17 through the Santa Cruz Mountains. Maximum Elevation, 1,808 feet at Patchen Pass, which everyone just calls "the summit.")
Get my chest X-ray in a freezing cold room. Done. Go to my usual lab, where it takes four sticks to fill the nine vials on order. I had a regular appointment coming up, and I just combined the two trips. Done. Go to Rite Aid to pick up prescriptions. Done.
I now have multiple appointments upcoming. Luckily, my mom will help out driving for a few so Kirsten doesn't have to miss more work. But I'm really eager to learn what is going on, get it fixed, and get new glasses!
Or cybereyes.
