As y'all are undoubtedly aware, I can be describe as being a fans of the San Francisco Giants.

In the same way that liquid helium can be described as "somewhat chilly." I live for baseball season, maintain hope for a World Series triumph up until the last out of the game that eliminates us, and hang on every pitch.

Which would explain my being pissed at a television schedule that pretty much eliminates any chance of seeing Saturday day games during the first part of the season. I love listening to baseball on the radio, but c'mon, televise the games!

I figure on doing one of these a month. Let's see how my Giants are doing, shall we?

After a terrible 2-7 start, the Giants found their groove and are now 11-10. We're 3.5 games back of the despised Los Angeles Dodgers. The story has been our pitching. The five starters and the bullpen currently share an amazing 3.81 ERA (3rd best in the National League.) Tim Lincecum is having another strong season, with 43 strikeouts so far over 31.1 innings. Even the much-maligned Barry Zito has found his groove. With Sandoval catching, he's performed very well in his last two starts. He's still 0-2, but expect that to change.

Among the starters, Bengie Molina and Pablo Sandoval are leading the team with .316 averages. Bengie leads the team with 4 homeruns and 19 runs batted in.

Defensively, so far, so good. The Giants have only committed nine errors in 21 games, with no one player being a stand-out bonehead. Our double-play relays are still a bit painful to watch, but that will smooth out.

So, what do we need for May? Runs! The G-men need to back up that excellent pitching with some offense. This will have to come with smart situational hitting and bunting to move runners around the bases, we do not have a power line-up. So look for more hit and runs, steals, and an emphasis in hitting to all fields.

GO GIANTS!!!
