What the quake didn't destroy, fires did. By the time the dust and smoke had settled, close to 60% of the city had been destroyed. We rebuilt. Because when you live in paradise, you accept the occasional earth-shattering kabooms.
83 years later, as the Bay Area settled in to watch Game 3 of the World Series between the Giants and the A's, we were reminded that we live on Terra Infirma.
I was going to post the Grateful Dead doing California Earthquake, but guess what? A 20 year old fan video of a show featuring a band that's not technically active anymore doing a public domain song has been taken down for "copyright violations."
