Heavy Metal Sunday loves duets.
May. 4th, 2008 08:59 amOne of Megadeth's best, and most misunderstood, songs is Á Tout Le Mondé. Seen by many to be a song about suicide, a close reading of the lyrics show that it is actually about the certainty of our eventual death, and a message I think most of us would want to leave to our friends and family. It's become a fan favorite at concerts, with all of us enthusiastically singing the chorus in really bad French.
For the United Abominations, Dave Mustaine decided to redo Le Mondé in a slightly more uptempo way, and invited vocalist Cristina Scabbia from Lacuna Coil to perform the song as a duet. The resulting track is, in my opinion, better than the original. The video is well done, and as a bonus, you can see the original music video on the monitors behind the band as they play.
And a special bonus track! Somehow, through no planning on our part, Damn Yankees' High Enough became the "song" for Kirsten and me. So, in honor of 17 wonderful years, here's the group that gave me the chance to insult Ted Nugent to his face.

Holy freaking crap, go see this movie right now! They got everything right, and I mean everything! Robert Downey Jr. is brilliant as Tony Stark, the supporting characters are all well-written and acted, and the effects are spot on. The burden of any superhero film is the origin. Iron Man handles this nicely, updating the classic origin to the modern day and streamlining several elements so we can get on with the story. There are couple of changes purists will grumble at, but they worked for me.
For a movie that could have easily been all about the suit (and the suit is amazing, they made good use of both CGI and physical props) this movies is mainly about the characters. There were also some good set ups for the next film. Hints of the Mandarin, Rhodey looking at a suit and saying "Next time, baby!" and some character development that needs to be expanded.
Five penguins, and you must stay through the closing credits. There is a bonus scene that made everyone in the theater yell "Oh, hell YEAH!"

Trusted family retainers often accompany youngster on their first visits to other worlds. Servants can often be the real power in a household, holding the keys to access to the important areas and people.

Yeah, I left a lot of "pick your own" in the skills, but I wanted this to be a very soft career. You can build a stuffy English butler or a servant/bodyguard.
Probably going to need a lot of work before it is usable, but it's a hole I wanted filled.
