gridlore: Doug looking off camera with a grin (Eat Rads)
I'm really becoming tired of our property managers. Never mind the missed appointments, or the ongoing epic that is the strip of greenery in front of the place, it is their shoddy attitude towards notifying us of things that is driving me up the wall.

A few nights ago, there was a knock at the door. One of the kids who works for the management company with two notes. One is an updated threat about cleanliness. Look, [livejournal.com profile] kshandra and I are never going to win awards for housekeeping, but the place is cluttered, not filthy. If they want perfection, they can hire a maid service. The other was a notice that we needed to have everything out of the garage by May 1st, so they could clean it.

Less than two weeks notice.

Then last night, at 2000hrs, I got a knock at the door from one of the handymen who announced that since the city was having a free trash day today, he would happily haul anything we had in the garage over to the dumpster... at 0800. So, I had to get up at 0630 on a Saturday (after being pretty sick for two days) and haul crap out of the garage. I will laugh my ass off if the stuff is still sitting there tonight. Now we need to get a few big plastic storage boxes so Kiri can store and organize her Burning Man stuff; since that all needs to come upstairs.

If we hadn't just bought a new truck, I'd be looking at apartments right now.

Ottava rima? Me? That can't be right!
   Too frivolous? But tut, there's no such thing!
Let others ponder thoughts of wrong and right,
   Or sit and think how much they love the spring;
I'd rather spend my time in gleeful spite,
   Or maybe laugh, or maybe sit and sing.
Besides, it might be fun to be inspiring -
But surely it would get so very tiring.

Like most everyone else, my emergency back-up style is:

I am, of course, none other than blank verse.
I don't know where I'm going, yes, quite right;
And when I get there (if I ever do)
I might not recognise it. So? Your point?
Why should I have a destination set?
I'm relatively happy as I am,
And wouldn't want to be forever aimed
Towards some future path or special goal.
It's not to do with laziness, as such.
It's just that one the whole I'd rather not
Be bothered - so I drift contentedly;
An underrated way of life, I find.
