OK, Dave Mustaine is haunting me.
Feb. 17th, 2008 11:46 amIt's not enough that this song comes up every time I post about my teeth.. no...
Kiri and I were discussing the possibility of getting up to see
arib and his lovely lady this week. Kirsten pointed out Thursday was the night
sylvan was going to karaoke. I made the point that I was having my teeth extracted that afternoon, and might want her around to deal with any possible problems.
iTunes immediately started this song. Because we were talking about my dental work.

Is it that hard to get the details right?
Feb. 17th, 2008 05:33 pmJust saw a commercial for Overstock.com. A forklift operator is surrounded by mattresses, requiring a large button to be pressed sending said mattresses out to stores. Pretty standard stuff.
Except that when the driver goes to shift into reverse, he instead grabs the tilt control. The gear shift on most lifts is on the steering column. Those three levers you can see are up/down, tilt, and left/right. Tiny detail, but enough to annoy anyone who runs a forklift.

More books!
Feb. 17th, 2008 05:55 pmI've run out of things to read, and really needed to get out of the apartment, so I schlepped down to B&N. Pretty good haul.
David Drake - The Tank Lords. Been years (decades, actually) since I read Hammer's Slammers. Since I'm going to Conjecture and will probably end up on panels with Mr. Drake, seems to be a good time to reread them.
Iain M. Banks - Excession. Slowly but surely I'm working my way through the Culture novels.
Allen Steele - Lunar Descent. I really enjoyed the Colony trilogy and this book appears to focus on blue collar workers on the Moon. I like his writing style, so I'm looking forward to this one.
Eric Flynt & Ryk E. Spoor - Boundary. I've been looking for one of
seawasp's books for a while now. The back cover blurb is interesting, and I think I'll have fun with the story.
Looked at a couple of history books, but nothing leapt out at me.
So, what are y'all reading right now?

There was much rejoicing.
Feb. 17th, 2008 07:32 pmI don't have to go to work tomorrow.
I don't have to wake up at 0515, put on a uniform, pack my lunch bag with liquids, try to find my Leatherman, and put on my steel-toes.
I don't have to drive a truck, deal with Eddy, or search job sites for the one guy working for the tiny contractor.
Oh, hell yeah! More beer!

And it's goodnight from me...
Feb. 17th, 2008 09:11 pmI just walked into a wall (who put that there?) that was in my way as I attempted to get to the bathroom.
How rude.
I'm taking this as a sign (along with the fact that I'd now qualify for both COPS and a million-hit video on YouTube) that I should grab a Gatorade for hangover prevention and head off to bed.
G'nite all!
