I got a job!
Had to get up way too early this morning for an interview at Lord & Sons for a truck driving gig. Got there, and was really impressed by both the operation and the attitude. They were happy that my DMV printout was only one page long and that I brought my own pen. :) We had a very nice interview, and I left.
Along the way, Kirsten texted me. She wasn't feeling well, so I met here at her bus transfer point and we headed home. After she went to bed, I called back a job lead whose call I missed yesterday. He wanted to know if I could come in for an interview today. Since I had to go to a temp agency to start the background checks for HillPeak, I said sure.
I was waiting at the stop light by our place when my phone buzzed. Lord & Sons is offering me a job! Yay!!! I have to go in later today for a pre-employment physical and drug test, but that's no biggie.
$11.00 an hour, which was at the low end of my acceptable range, but after 90 days I get a review. Benefits after 90 days. Regular work week. Looks like I'll be driving mostly in the Livermore area. Which works for me, I did a lot of that with PODS. The trucks are similar to the one I drove at PODS - 24' flatbeds. What I'll be doing is delivering supplies to construction sites.
Go me!
