Today was my first "real" day on the streets as a PODS driver. Oh, I've had my truck for a week or so, and been rolling around on my own a little, but what I was doing were long runs to places like Lincoln, or doing tandem jobs, where I and another driver would go to do something. There was usually someone else there, and I didn't have that many jobs to do.
Not today. Today I was handed Run #2, six jobs all in San Jose (more or less.) Nobody to guide me, I just had to go out and do the job.
I kicked ass. My second job was picking up a pod that was in a.. difficult position, to say the least. The rest were fairly easy, and every time I called in to time stamp (I don't have my work phone yet, so I'm calling the warehouse on my phone and giving the details) the seemed please that I wasn't calling for help.
By the time I reached my last job (a return to warehouse) I was feeling really good. This was my acid test, doing a full day's work, and I passed with flying colors.
Go me.
