Reading the forums for NationStates, and there's a thread on " Most Increadibly(sic) Stupid Military Events Awards"

The mistakes on just the first page have me head-desking.

After Atilla the Hun completely destroyed the Roman Army, he let himself be talked into just packing up and going back to Mongolia by the Pope. He could have owned the entire world.

Napoleon's army neglecting to take coats to Siberia seems like a bit of an oversight.

Bad history, bad geography.. ARGH!

..to getting the hell out of retail.

Spent a very interesting hour this morning at Unique Towing, getting familiar with their systems and learning some of their procedures. Not a formal job offer, yet, but all signs are positive right now.

The Dispatch system is straightforward and easy to use. Much like the one I used at SuperShuttle with obvious changes from the needs of a multi-stop passenger service to a towing company. The phones and radio are equally simple. The only thing that will take a little learning is the various procedures for releasing cars and property left in cars brought in under the company's agreements with local police agencies. There are three of them, Santa Clara police, county sheriff, and the CHP and they each have a different procedure.

I think I handled myself well. I listened, asked questions, and did well enough that I was entering calls from the two drivers on duty by the end of the hour.

Daniel, who seems to be a manager of sorts, told me that he would try to get me in. Here's hoping!

$10-11/hour to start, with a raise after the 90 day probationary period. That works out to roughly $1,260 a month after taxes. Kaiser, dental and vision coverage and a 401k is in the works.

[chorus line]Dear God I need this job; please God I need this job. I have to get this show![/chorus line]

The commute thing is clearing up. I can take my bike on light rail and line 59 to get to work, and at night ride the 1.4 miles to the light rail on N. 1st Street to get home. That way Kirsten would on have to come to Ohlone/Cheynworth Station to pick me up (or I could just ride home from there, it's only another mile or so.)

and I'm not talking about the Giants sucking.

I didn't get the job. Another applicant had previous tow experience.

WTF, people.. I ran their fucking board for fifteen minutes this morning! What the hell am I supposed to do? Cut off a limb, remove a major organ? (Oh yeah, I did that already, which why I'm in this bloody mess right now.)

I have an interview for a driving job Monday morning. I'm trying desperately to keep my hopes up and go in strong. I don't know how much more I can take of being rejected.

PS: Why is it the more booze I drink, the better I spell?

Listening to the jam at the end of Green Grass and High Tides does tend to lighten my mood a bit.
