97 years ago, some slipped deep beneath the Earth along the San Andreas fault, and San Francisco shook with an earthquake that measured well over 8 on the Richter scale. Best guess is it was an 8.2. After the shaking stopped, fires broke out that leveled half the city.

Within two years, we had rebuilt almost everything.

We're still waiting for the next Big One to hit.. and we'll rebuild after that one as well.

It doesn't pull punches.

So far today, I have:

- fallen down the stairs while going to get the paper.

- taken a shower 45 seconds before the hot water ran out.

- had a Coke semi-explode

- learned my idiot doctor wasn't in the office today to sign my damn disability paperwork

- had the computer freeze up several times during the relatively simple task of reading e-mail and trying to chat.

I should've stayed in bed.
