Amazingly enough, Sentinel Security has managed to turn the relatively simple act of picking up a paycheck into a three-and-a-half hour long ordeal.
Since I work Mon-Weds, and payday is on Friday, I told the HR person to hold my check at the office. It is much easier for me to get there, and there is a Bank of America ATM nearby for a quick deposit. Also, there is food available if I'm in the mood, or the train home stops right in front of the supermarket if we need anything.
So today I get down there, and Mike shuffles through all the pay envelopes, and sure enough, he sent my check to the site. Which is in Colma. And I can't wait until Monday. Remember that out security shack is merely a wood shed with a lock. I'm not leaving my pay there for the weekend!
Steeling myself, I walk back to Market St, and get on BART to Colma ($2.50), then take the 120 bus to the job site ($1.10), go to the shack, find the guard there, and get my check. Walk back to the bus stop, take the 120 all the way to Daly City BART (another $1.10) which is a pretty long ride, then catch the Muni line 28 home (free. since I have a monthly pass on Muni.) I remember that the check does no good in my pocket, and get of at Taraval to deposit it. Consider waiting for the next bus, decided that getting home is the better part of valor, and hoof the three blocks up the hill.
These people are guarding things?? They can't even keep simple paperwork straight, and throw peoples' money around on assumptions! Hell, I had to remind Mike for the third time that I wouldn't be in next Wednesday because of my oral board with San Mateo County. Grrr...
Winning the lottery would be nice, if only so I could call them and quit Saturday night. I'm normally the kind of guy who dislikes burning bridges, but these people have done nothing to make me want to show them any courtesy.
