OK, the update.

All right, I've put this off long enough. I'm going to split it into different categories rather than try to remember everything that happened in order.
As I briefly reported, my eyes are responding to treatment, and I can see again. I can even read without having to strain myself. This is good.
I have another appointment in a few weeks to see what progress has been made. Until then, I'm still dropping steroids in my eyes every hour. Along with the fun mood swings, this leaves me with aching joints, really weird dreams, and poor sleep habits. It's worth it to keep my vision.
Other than that, I'm doing fairly well.
A week ago last Thursday, Kirsten and I went to see Daredevil at the Daly City Googleplex. We showed up a little late, so I missed the very beginning. But I was very impressed. They got dark right. The movie looked like it could take place in the real New York City. This is one thing that bothered me about the Batman franchise. Gotham City never looked real. I never once believed that anybody actually lived there.
Oh, and the meeting between Matt and Elektra was perfect. Probably my favorite point was that they didn't kill all the villains. I hate that in other super-hero films.
Saturday night I tried to watch SciFi Channel's version of Riverworld. I lasted about forty-five minutes. Ghods, that was awful. They changed so many things.. the three biggest offenders being:
1. Not everyone waking at the same time.
2. Horses (and other large animals) on the Riverworld.
3. Everyone speaking the same language.
Sunday, I spent in Arakken bliss, as I watched all of SciFi's excellent Dune and tried to get into Children of Dune. I didn't like the book, so it's no surprise that I wasn't impressed by the mini-series.
It's almost baseball season! And the best news a Giant's fan could get came the other day. We traded Livan Hernandez. (The guy who blew two World Series starts.)
I watched the Giants in a tune-up against the Texas Rangers last night, and we looked a little rusty. There's a game today against the A's, so we'll see what happens. We open the season Monday at San Diego.
GO GIANTS!!!
I admit that I've spent a large amount of time watching the war coverage. I'm amazed at the people (both military and civilian) who seem amazed that the Iraqis are fighting back. They are battling for their homes. This is a bit different from the first Gulf War.
All in all, I'm impressed with the coverage. I note that the people complaining the hardest about the "embedded" reporters are those who tend to demonize the military. I guess actually seeing what the troops are doing hurts their ability to make all of us who wear (or have worn) the uniform out to be baby killers.
Thursday night I ascended my first character in the new version of Nethack.
There. Now were up to date.

Every time I hear the term "embedded reporter"...
